Congregational Websites: An Issue of Size
Kelsey Dallas from the Deseret News wrote an article outlining the relationship between congregational size and the presence of a website. Using data from the National Congregations Study, she shows that smaller congregations often struggle with the cost of creation and maintenance of a website. Smaller congregations may lack the resources, struggling to find qualified individuals to begin or maintain a website, and keeping content current is important to the success of an organization’s site.
Does your congregation have a website? Does it get traffic? Do people report checking the website for information? Or is your congregation one where few regular attendees use the internet regularly?
More and more, people are interested in having event calendars and announcements available through websites and other social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter. Is this information available on your website? Or do you primarily list the Religious Leader’s name and service times?
Tell us about your congregation’s struggle with connecting online on Facebook or Twitter.
